Gayle Wolfer led a full and active life, running a real estate business as well as working in a restaurant. On the night of her assault, she had arranged to meet a client. A businessman from Ohio, with whom she had only spoken to on the telephone, at a remote rural farm. Gayle is surprised to find her client. Mr Furman already in negotiations with the sellers, Ted Sloan and Susan Claridge. It appears to be the easiest of sales, until suddenly. Furman pulls a gun, ties up the two women, and takes Sloan out to the barn to shoot him. Furman comes back into the house and lays Gayle face down on the bed and tries to shoot her. She manages to kick him in the stomach, but he fires 3 shots at her from point-blank range, leaving her badly wounded and escapes into the night. Gayle's nightmare explodes as she slowly discovers the true story behind the attack and the horrifying truth as to the assailant’s identity.
