CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE
A True Story
Running Time 183 Minutes
On the night of 13 November 1971, Helen Osborne, a 19-year-old native Cree student Living in The Pas, Manitoba, was forced into a car by four young white men. Struggling and refusing to have sex with them, she was beaten and brutally murdered.
A whole town knew the identity of the girl's cowardly killers. Fuelled by their entrenched racism towards the town's Indian inhabitants, they decided to close ranks in a conspiracy of silence, and refused to help the police with their enquiries.
With no incriminating evidence against them, the murderers were allowed to walk free. But some sixteen years later, a new wave of enquiries shattered the wall of silence.
