The beautiful emerald landscape of southern Ireland is the setting for this unusual drama that features a distinguished international cast. The story revolves around Dr. Scully (Fred Astaire) and his involvement with a few wealthy, high class foreigners who, for diverse reasons, have sought refuge in Ireland: Philip (Philippe Noiret), a self exiled Frenchman; Jerry Kean (Edward Albert, Jr.), a young, rebellious American; and ]erry's sister Sharon (Charlotte Rampling), a rich, lonely jet-setter. They become fascinated by the mysterious Mr. Taubelman (Peter Ustinov) who lives with an equally enigmatic beautiful young girl. In their efforts to figure out Taubelman, they each add or lose a few pieces of their own personal puzzle.
